National Programs

There are eight FCCLA National programs which are peer-to-peer education projects that help students learn important life skills by using hands-on practice. They are designed for students to choose their units of focus, and implement a project where they educate and impact others in their communities. There is an opportunity for chapters to apply to earn national recognition for thorough completion of these programs.

Career Connection prepares students for the future by allowing them to practice skills that are useful in one’s career. There are four units to this program: My Skills, My Life, My Career, and My Path. Members are required to include a minimum of one of the above units in their projects! Completion of this program can result in state and national recognition, and the possibility of winning $1,000 for your chapter.

Community Service encourages participants to give back to their communities. Members should identify local concerns and create projects to address them. There are three units to this program: Learn, Lead, and Serve. Members are required to include a minimum of one of the above units in their projects! Completion of this program can result in state and national recognition, and the possibility of winning $1,000 for your chapter.

Families Acting for Community Traffic Safety (FACTS) educates adults and peers on safe driving to create better roads. There are three units to this program: People, Vehicles, and Roads. There are three units to this program: Learn, Lead, and Serve. Members are required to include a minimum of one of the above units in their projects! Completion of this program can result in state and national recognition, and the possibility of winning $1,000 for your chapter. There is an opportunity to win the State Level FAC​TS Award as well! Partnering with Ford Driving Skills for Life and the Governors Highway Safety Association (GHSA), submission of this national program could result in a $500 prize for the top state project to go towards your chapter.

Families First helps members become stronger family members both currently and in the future. There are five units to this program: Families Today, You-Me-Us, Meet the Challenge, Balancing Family and Career, and Parent Practice. Members are required to include a minimum of one of the above units in their projects! Completion of this program can result in state and national recognition, and the possibility of winning $1,000 for your chapter.

Financial Fitness engages members in learning strong financial literacy skills for their futures. Members can create projects to help themselves and their peers learn how to earn, spend, save, and protect money. There are four units to this program: Earning, Spending, Saving, and Protecting. Members are required to include a minimum of one of the above units in their projects! Completion of this program can result in state and national recognition, and the possibility of winning $1,000 for your chapter.

Stand Up encourages members to advocate for what they believe in. By using their voice, members can create a strong impact in their communities. There are three Stand Up units: Assess, Educate, and Advocate. Members are required to include a minimum of one of the above units in their projects! Completion of this program can result in state and national recognition, and the possibility of winning $1,000 for your chapter.

The Student Body national program focuses on improving physical and mental health. Members can develop projects that help their peers develop healthier lifestyles and habits. There are four Student Body units: The Healthy You, The Fit You, The Real You, and the Resilient You. Members are required to include a minimum of one of the above units in their projects! Completion of this program can result in state and national recognition, and the possibility of winning $1,000 for your chapter.

Power of One guides students to learn the importance of making SMART goals and implement them in all aspects of their life. There are five units: A Better You, Family Ties, Working on Working, Take the Lead, and Speak out for FCCLA. Members must set one goal related to each of the units, for a total of five goals for completion. You should work with your adviser to have your goals approved and verified throughout the application process! Completion of this program not only leaves you creating change in yourself, your relationships, and your community, but you can also gain state and national recognition.

These 8 programs are a great opportunity to learn and grow for the future! Using the Planning Process may be a strong step towards getting started.

The leisurely family meal, a staple for countless generations of Americans, has been taken off the table by the cold realities of 21st Century lifestyles. Parents juggle long work days, daily commutes, their children’s after-school activities, and endless demands of running a household. There just isn’t time.

But, families that eat meals together reap long-term benefits that feed the body, mind, and spirit. FCCLA is tackling this challenge through its national campaign, FCCLA @ the Table, asking its members to take a pledge to plan and prepare healthy meals for their families.

NJ FCCLA Members: Are you ready for a challenge? Your State Executive Council challenges you to join them in supporting FCCLA @ the Table. Remember, families that eat meals together experience long terms benefits that help their minds, bodies, and souls. Are you ready to take on the challenge? We challenge you to cook a simple yet healthy meal for your family and post a picture eating the meal with your family and use the hashtag #njfcclaatthetable to be featured on our Instagram!
