NJ Leadership Boot Camp
Every November the New Jersey delegation of Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America begins the year with an exciting and dynamic conference. This year, while we cannot be together in person, we are getting ready to gather "virtually" for the NJ CTSO Unified Fall Leadership Connection on a virtual conference. Members from six Career & Technical Student Organizations will hear from motivational speakers, colleges, attend workshops, network electronically and participate in virtual competitive events. The NJ FCCLA delegation consists of 430 members. 217 of those members also competed in virtual competitive events. During a time when it is easier to sit home and hide away these members decided to register and get involved in something productive to better themselves and develop their leadership skills. There are two state community service initiatives: making face masks to donate and a food drive for chapter's local communities. NJ FCCLA encourages members to participate in their various community service initiatives.
The NJ Fall Leadership Connection is a great way to kick starts the school year even in this virtual setting!

(Virtual Leadership Experience)
The National Organization of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) offers one Fall Conference that is usually held in November for members and advisers. This year the conference will be provided virtually for $150 per chapter. The vLE will provide an opportunity for students and advisers to come together virtually for fun and to listen to inspiring speakers, as well as to expand leadership skills, sharpen talents and explore career pathways. One focus of the meeting for the members is college and career readiness. This meeting provides on-site career tours, college exhibits and workshops dedicated to college and career readiness. Skill demonstration events will also be held prior to the conference, featuring students participating in a wide variety of competitive activities. Events include several oratory and FCCLA-specific knowledge competitions, demonstrations of college and career-ready skills in Family and Consumer Sciences, and exhibitions of culinary food art and knife skills. FCCLA is "Beyond Measure!"
In the fall, FCCLA members and advisers are usually invited to attend Capitol Leadership in Washington, D.C.. This year it has been postponed. During Capitol Leadership, students received training focusing on networking, professionalism, strategic planning, and advocacy around key teen-centered current issues. Students will advocate for Family and Consumer Sciences and Career and Technical Education by showing policy makers how their support for education impacts teens in preparing to be college- and career- ready. An important aspect of Capitol Leadership features today's teens meeting with their representatives on Capitol Hill to explain the importance of continued support for the Strengthening Career and Technical Education Act. This conference is perfect for State and Local Chapter Officers.
